Nurto to Draw for Boys
Use the video and step-by-step drawing instructions below to learn how to draw Naruto. A new cartoon drawing tutorial is uploaded every week, so stay tooned!
Intro: Start drawing Naruto with a pencil sketch. In the beginning stages, don't press down too hard. Use light, smooth strokes for sketching.
Step 1: To draw Naruto, start with an oval near the bottom half of the page. Draw two small lines under the oval. These will be the basic shapes for Naruto's head and neck.
Step 2: Next, draw two intersecting lines across the circle, one vertical line and one horizontal line. When drawing the lines, bend them so they follow the contour of the shape. These will be construction lines that will help you place Naruto's features later on.
Step 3: Now draw Naruto's eyes, which are two small ovals that sit on top of the horizontal construction line and on either side of the vertical construction line.
Step 4: Draw in Naruto's nose, which is a small curved line below the horizontal construction line and to the left of the vertical construction line. Draw Naruto's mouth below his nose as two curved lines that resemble a letter D on its side.
Step 5: Draw the guide for Naruto's headband, which consists of two lines above his eyes that follow the shape of the horizontal construction line. On the right side of his head and below the headband shape, draw a long curve that looks like a backward letter C. This line will be his ear.
Step 6: That's it for the initial sketch of Naruto, the manga character! You have the basic Naruto shape, so now go in and tighten your drawing. From this point on, press harder with your pencil in order to get darker lines and a more defined sketch.
Step 7: Tighten the shapes of Naruto's eyes and draw the lines thicker on top to simulate eyelashes. Draw a series of lines above each eye and below the headband to create his eyebrows.
Step 8: Draw in two circles inside Naruto's eyes for his irises and draw a thick dot in the middle of the irises for his pupils. In the top left corner of each of his irises, draw a small circle to represent glare.
Step 9: Darken in the shape of Naruto's nose and draw two small dots just to the right of it to indicate his nostrils.
Step 10: Tighten the shape of Naruto's mouth by stretching it more to the right to give him a smirk. Draw two jagged lines inside of it to represent his teeth. Draw a small line on the below the mouth to make Naruto's lower lip.
Step 11: Naruto's hair is a bit tricky, so this section about how to draw Naruto's hair is broken down in two parts. Essentially, you just need to draw a series of curved triangles above his headband.
Step 12: Draw the other half of Naruto's hair using more curved triangles. Be sure to draw a couple of hair clumps overlapping Naruto's headband to show that they're in front of it.
Step 13: Darken in the shape of Naruto's headband. Make it wider on the sides so it comes out of the head shape slightly. Inside the headband, draw his metal plate, which is a rectangle with rounded edges. Draw a few lines inside the rectangle near the top to give it thickness and dimension.
Step 14: Draw the shape inside of Naruto's headband, which is just a coil with a triangle coming off the lower left side of it. Draw in three small circles on either side of the plate to represent the hardware that keep it attached to the headband.
Step 15: Tighten the shape of Naruto's face by making it narrower. Draw the right side of it so it comes up along the inside of his ear. Draw in some jagged lines on the right side below the headband to represent Naruto's sideburn.
Step 16: Define the shape of Naruto's ear by drawing a few lines inside it to represent the structure of it. Below Naruto's ear, draw a few jagged lines to represent the back part of his hair.
Step 17: Draw in Naruto's neck below his head and add three lines on either side of his cheeks.
Step 18: That's it! You now have a nice sketch of Naruto, the manga character. You can stop at this quick drawing for a rough, sketchy look or go for a more finished look by continuing to the step below.
Step 19: For a more finished, inked look, carefully draw over the final sketch lines with a pen or marker. Wait for the ink to dry, and then get rid of every pencil mark with an eraser. You now have a finished inked drawing of Naruto! You can stop here or go to the final step to complete your Naruto drawing.
Final Step: For a completely finished Naruto drawing, you have to color it. You can use markers, color pencils or even crayons! Color Naruto's hair and eyebrows yellow, his headband dark gray and the metal plate light gray. His eyes are blue, and his skin is peach. If you don't have peach, improvise and use yellow-orange or light brown. Experiment! That's it! You now have a completed drawing of Naruto.
